As demand for the R9 has gathered so much momentum in the last years, we’ve become increasingly aware of how some companies are offering them using different, cheaper manufacturing techniques.
Naturally we wish to highlight this for the risk of making what is already a premium product seem comparatively expensive.
The whole ethos behind the R9 is to produce a very close replica of a 19th Century timber casement window whilst utilising the benefits of a modern PVCu window.
As far as we are concerned, that means using a timber ‘butt-joint’ on the frames and sashes that looks period-correct.
In the past few weeks, we have seen a modern chamfered and welded joint that you would see on a typical contemporary PVCu window – a technique that was never employed on timber windows of this period!
We completely understand why other companies are using this technique as it makes a substantial saving on manufacturing time and costs.
The R9 is a premium product and we believe that using manufacturing short cuts to reduce it’s price is a mistake and could potentially mislead customers.
Residence R9 Window From Surrey Windows
Surrey Windows will not provide a welded, chamfered R9 to reduce the costs of this window – our R9 will always use butt joints.
Again, when we see customers falling in love with the R9 we try our very best to keep our prices as competitive as possible but not by downgrading this particular product.
